Painter, Sculptor

Gerald Wasserman, reflecting on his work: “The oil paintings I did in Rome were mostly figures, like Madonna and Child or Madonna with Saints, both in large and small scale. They were based on the large Italian altar pieces, but in a modern abstract idiom. All my abstract work started with real things in mind. My work was shown regularly in Rome at the Galleria Schneider, owned by an American, Robert Schneider.“
