Margaret Roberts was born in Sacramento and has resided in Pebble Beach since 1966. She was accepted as a member of the Carmel Art Association in 1974 and has served on the Board of Directors nine times. She paints exclusively in watercolor.


Roberts studied at the University of Oregon and has attended workshops with several watercolor artists, including Rex Brandt and Robert E. Wood. She has been accepted in many competitions including the American Watercolor Society. Having been a student of art history, she served as a docent at the Monterey Museum for eight years and established the Monterey Peninsula Watercolor Society in 1974, acting as the director for twenty-eight years.


She is an admirer of watercolors by H.M.W. Turner, John Singer Sargent and Percy Gray. She is constantly observing the effect of light on the landscape, striving to create an inner glow in her paintings.
